RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK IT RALPH 2

It’s been awhile since I last watched animated films, so it was quite refreshing to do so. As I have been watching movies more frequently now, I like to analyse while I am watching and I often think about the work and effort involved to make the film.

I’m assuming if you’re here to read you won’t be worried about knowing what happens in the film, so I guess I don’t have to remind that this post is bound to be spoiler filled right?

The film really showed a lot of product placements for sure, but it made me think that this is one of the ways to make the film work in a way. Imagine Ralph and Vanellope reaching the internet and it was just buildings with no logos? That would just not be the internet in my mind. So instead of people being so anti about the ads and messages that the film shows about pop-up ads like to play online games, dating sites and messages that trick you that you’re a jackpot winner or something, I think it’s fine. I mean, they are just showing what the internet is like. Would you like a film that sugar coats and hides the real thing it should be? I would just think it to be less attractive and enjoyable.

For those that think it unsafe for kids to watch etc, well you should be watchful of your child, but how much can you protect from? No, don’t get me wrong. I mean in the sense that are you going to stop your child from watching any film that has a tiny small negative message? I doubt you can let your child watch any film them. For me, I would think this film alright for kids. The important thing is to explain to my child the parts that I would be afraid of them getting the wrong messages from. I would hate to over protect my child, only to let them be exposed to the real world one day and get too overwhelmed and collapse okay!?

Okay sorry for the slight out of topic from the movie. So for the plot of the movie, I found it quite well rounded yet a bit too long. I am sure the people making the film spent a lot of effort to make this film, and I shouldn’t complain when I got to watch a 2 hour film without having to pay more (since most movies are just 90 mins or less). Still, if it could cut short on some dialogues maybe I would have been more focused in the film.

I enjoyed the singing part where Vanellope returned back to slaughter race. So yes, I just love the way the lyrics are so simple yet so cute. Very child friendly yet easy for adults to like too. And I’m a big fan of rhymes, so yup, this will be another new song for me.

Here’s the song “A Place Called Slaughter Race”. Be sure to go to listen to it, since the cute singing brings it even more to life.

"What can it be that calls me to this place today
This lawless car ballet?
What can it be
Am I a baby pigeon sprouting wings to soar?
Was that a metaphor?
Hey, there's a dollar store
Look! I'm rhyming
My spirit's climbing
As I'm called through this fog of mace
To this place called Slaughter Race

Welcome back, watch your head
Hate to see you wind up dead

Let's get this party rollin'
Is that appliance stolen?

We have-
Fallen wires!
Dumpster fires!
Creepy clowns!
And burning tires!
That great white in the sewer
You'll be happy that you knew her!
Fin bump!
Dogs and cats, they sure taste great!
With a side of license plate!
Some find us deplorable
Well I think you're adorable
We may be a motley crew
But our hearts ring true
And just for you a face tattoo

My heart's in flight and wow, it's a blast!
Feels like my dreams are real at last
No trace of a frown upon your face
Flying so fast
Setting the pace
Living the life
Loving the chase
Now is the time
Here is the place
This Slaughter Race

I know I should go
But home feels so slow
These roads are paved with dreams
Happy dreams, not creepy clown dreams
What would Ralph say
If it turns out I stay
In this place called Slaughter Race
In this place called Slaughter Race"

Yes, some lyrics are not that good for good kids like teaching them to steal appliances and fires and stuff, but like I mentioned before, please be responsible to educate your film yourself. Do not expect a film to do that for you.

The part where Vanellope hides in the room full of princesses is another part I enjoyed. Especially when they all change into normal shirts. haha… I’m sure a real princess had normal shirts too right? Maybe hidden in their closet.

And when Ralph walks into the comment room, it’s a reality kind of scene. That’s something very applicable in real life, and reminded by the character Yesss that the  “first rule of the internet: Don’t read the comments.” It’s true. If you can’t handle them, don’t read them. People tend to find it easier to judge people rather than write something encouraging. Maybe it makes them feel better when they let out their anger on others.

Another thing I noticed in the film is how the producers or film makers must really love cats. Why no dogs? :C There’s nothing wrong with cats being cute, but I am more a dog person ya know…

Anyway, that’s a small bit of my thoughts on this film, and I would totally go and watch it again to pay more attention to some details I missed. There is a small cameo of Stan Lee and Iron Man, but I totally missed that. Too many characters that brings back memory, so I sure need a few more watches.

Go watch it and tell me what you found interesting!
